How we've grown!

For nearly 40 years, Sesame Street has served children's best interests, combining education and entertainment through a research-based curriculum, featuring a multicultural cast, and giving kids honest answers to tough questions. Besides teaching letters and numbers, Sesame Street fosters imagination, builds social skills, and models respect for people's differences, whether they're based in race, gender, ethnicity, googly eyes, or neon fur.

Our programming is global

Big Bird's feathery wing isn't just for American kids to lean on. Sesame Workshop partners with international producers to create versions of Sesame Street that address children's educational needs in countries around the world, including South Africa, Indonesia, and Egypt.

Our media presence is expanding

Like Sesame Street, Dragon Tales, Pinky Dinky Doo, and The Electric Company are carefully researched television shows, and child development professionals guide our educational goals and creative process. And we're working on many fronts beyond television; we also develop educational content for radio, books, magazines, and digital media.

Our outreach efforts reach children in need

We teach children life skills such as how to handle an emergency. We offer a furry helping hand when families are coping with tough times, such as when a loved one goes away to war. In India, we use rickshaws to deliver our educational programming to children with limited access to learning materials. All told, we're the single largest informal educator of young children, reaching millions of children, parents, caregivers, and educators worldwide. Learn more about our outreach efforts here.

You can help us with our work

We sell toys, videos, and other products that educate and entertain kids. The money from these sales helps fund our educational research and creative content development. If you are interested in learning more or supporting us, please continue reading here.
